Dr. Jeffrey K. Liker is Professor of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan and president of Liker Lean Advisors—a network of top-notch practitioners who consult, coach and teach in the Toyota Way. He is author of the international best-seller, The Toyota Way: 14 Management Principles from the World’s Greatest Manufacturer, McGraw Hill, 2004 (26 languages, over 900,000 copies sold), and has coauthored nine other books about Toyota, including: The Toyota Way Fieldbook, 2005, The Toyota Product Development System, 2006, Toyota Talent, 2007, Toyota Culture, 2008, The Toyota Way to Continuous Improvement, 2011,Toyota Under Fire, 2011, and The Toyota Way to Lean Leadership, 2011. His newest book is The Toyota Way to Service Excellence: Lean Transformation in Service Organizations. In 2016 he coauthored a lean transformation business novel called Trenches. His articles and books have won twelve Shingo Prizes for Research Excellence and The Toyota Way also won the 2005 Institute of Industrial Engineers Book of the Year Award and 2007 Sloan Industry Studies Book of the Year. In 2012 he was inducted into the Association of Manufacturing Excellence Hall of Fame and in 2016 inducted into the Shingo Academy.
